Marco van Egmond has been awarded the prestigious `Menno Hertzberger Aanmoedigingsprijs` (Menno Hertzberger Encouragement Award) for his dissertation on the 18th century cartographic publishing company Covens & Mortier.
The `Menno Hertzberger Prijs` (Menno Hertzberger Award) was first presented in 1963 by the Dutch antiquarian Menno Hertzberger, then frontman of the `Nederlandsche Vereeniging van Antiquaren` (Dutch Antiquarian Booksellers` Association). It is presented once every three years. Since 2002 it is presented together with the `Menno Hertzberger Aanmoedigingsprijs`, which is meant to stimulate and to award exceptional research into the history of the book.
Now available is the richly illustrated English edition of this awarded dissertation as volume 8 of our series Utrecht Studies in the history of cartography: Covens & Mortier. A Map Publishing House in Amsterdam 1685-1866.
