HARDCOVER. Also available in paper version. Introductions by Andrea Immel. This special, lavishly illustrated volume was published to celebrate the 75th birthday of Mr. Lloyd E. Cotsen, the collector responsible for the library of over 100,000 books, manuscripts, drawings, educational toys, and printed ephmera now resides at the Princeton University`s Cotsen Children`s Library. Divided into two separate, but linked, sections illustrating studious children using books respectfully and properly on the one hand, and young ruffians and layabouts misusing the printed word, the book contains 26 full-color illustrations by well known illustrators such as Maurice Sendak, Jessie Wilcox Smith, Tom Seidmann-Freud, Edy Legrand, Adrien Marie, Edmund Dulac, Colin Thompson, Franziska Schenkel, Sergei Chekhonin, and more.
Designed by Mark Argetsinger, and printed by the Stamperia Valdonega in Verona, this accordion-folded book is available in both paperbound and clothbound formats. The extremely limited deluxe version is handsomely bound in mauve silk cloth with title labels and comes wrapped in beautiful, high-quality Japanese paper. Andrea Immel, Curator of the Cotsen Children`s Library, has provided an appropriate essay for each section. HES & DE GRAAF Publishers is the worldwide distributor for this and other publications of the Cotsen Children“s Library / Cotsen Occasional Press.
